Mikaela emailed me today and said they were rearranging orders to get me my 3 females. Then an hour later she emailed again and said they were shipping them today, and that they were hand picked from the breeders and vent sexed too. Yay! I think that means I'll have them Friday morning.
Not the Pilgrims, everyone told me that. Nor Sebastopols. They are next on my list. I'm waiting for a person who is incubating eggs now and lives close to me to hatch some out.
They are all supposed to have docile temperaments...just watch out for Springtime. All best are off then.

Also, once I have 4 adult females and 3 adult males, I'll watch them to see if 3 boys is too much. They may pair off 1:1 or 1:2, and then I'll have either just the right # or have to rehome 1 or 2 males. Anyone know from personal experience?
ok- so we have Petunia, Petey, Paulie, and Paco now. I think...
When we get the 3 girls Friday...or whenever....
they will be Prissy, Pandora, and Porche (Porcha)...however you spell that name. That's what we want anyways. They have to "fit" their names or their names have to 'fit" them.

Ok, you guys are making me wanting geese!!! When I was a kid, we had geese, but they were mean. The male would forever chase us and we hated going in their pen. But, the way you describe the pilgrims, that sounds perfect. I know I can't have any right now. I've already got 6 duck babies and 9 baby chicks and we only have just under 1/4 acre. My family is already going crazy with all the critters in the house (hoping to move the chicks out this week). Ah well, I'll just have to watch your geese and wait for the day I can get a bigger place with more property!
glad things are working out well and more girls are on the way. you crack me up by getting sebastopols next...the goose addiction has struck-i am guessing that they will have the "s" names? can't wait to see the new girls photos posted soon. all is going well with their "d" siblings-growning and growing and growing some more! i'm sure all will go well with the shipment-are you getting any "packing peanuts" sent too? wonder what kind of geese cici_p is getting at the end of april??? i think the one name is porsche(like the car) or portia (like ellen's girlfriend)-guess you could do it however you want really.
I know...I just can't quit with my birds. My Dh and BFF both think I'm crazy..he says "my crazy wife" and she says "my fowl friend." Oh well, I guess there are worse names to be called. I think I"ll go with Porsche like the car.
Mine are growing soooo fast! I see little hints of white coming on the boys' tails and wings; not much but the white color is showing thru the fuzzy down...They LOVE chopped cabbage! I give them a big bowl of it every evening as their bedtime snack. On St Patty's Day our grocery store was selling heads of it for 9 cents each. I bought 5 of them, and have hung up 3 for my chickens to peck at and am chopping the rest for these babies. It can't hurt them can it?
I need to think of other birds for my other favorite names...Oliver, Olivia, Odette, Ophelia.....maybe the Australian spotted ducks that are growing in my bator already. There are 5 eggs, so I"ll need to have a few more names just in case they all hatch and there is more than 1 boy.
I'll take pics tomorrow once the girls arrive. Ideal didn't say anything about packing peanuts. I do know our weather is supposed to be fabulous tomorrow...sunny and high of 65. Perfect weather to take my 2 week olds outside to eat some non-growing grass (so far it is still gross looking from our too long winter.)
crazedguinea, please take new pics of yours too, ok? I"d love to see them...
cici_p- what kind of geese are you getting next month?
