It sounds like you may have an expensive project coming up, so start saving for it now.
If you really want to pry the baseboard out with minimal damage to the wall use a small pry bar (or screwdriver) with a long board behind it to push against. The board between the prying point and the wall will distribute the force in such a way as to not cause holes being punched in the wall when removing the baseboard. If the wall is as soft as you indicate, however, it may be a moot point to minimize damage. The wall may start crumbling as soon as you pull the baseboard.
