Molding under feed container

I have a small round feeder that you attach a mason jar to and also a waterer of the same sorts. I just put my chicks outside and I notice when I clean the bases of the feeder and waterer (which is daily) that there is mold under each one. I move them around daily to try to avoid this. Should I put them on a brick or something to elevate them?

I was going to ask you what you have them sitting on, a brick sounds like a great solution.
