molting and egg laying

For the last few months I am only getting 9 to 12 eggs a day. (I have 18 girls) And now I have a few that are starting to molt. Do they slow down months before they go into molting stage. I did read that they don't lay eggs while molting but not sure about the before. If that is the case then it would explain . This is their first molting.

Eggs can taper off before you see any signs of a molt. I have some hens that will stop laying a week or two before you see any feather loss.
