Molting and Monarchs

It was bound to happen (soon after later would be nice, however). The squadron of hummingbirds that had been stationed here headed off in the direction of the Gulf on the 25th. Vanished without a trace, leaving no stragglers, as usual.

Today the Monarch butterflies were loading up for their journey, hitting our Asters along the road. I snapped a few shots to look at in January...

And the poultry are `exploding' (back yard looks like some sorority is having a pillow fight). Will be needing some color about the time they are all looking sharp and irridescent again

THAT is a beautiful picture. I'm seeing monarchs heading southwest in our area. And it's good to know that there are LOTS of them!
 
That pictures is so beautiful! You should send it to Birds and Blooms,or Buds and Blooms, or whatever that magazine is...
