Yes - a lot of feed is in the 17-18% protein range - which is probably 'adequate' but not generous on the protein front. I feed a 20% All Flock feed to everyone.

Also you can give them some Rooster booster poultry cell to help growing in new feathers

Mine eat cat food - but if you read the ingredients on a can of cat food it isn't a very high protein % (I was surprised).

I agree with this.

You can also give them a suet cake. Its not a treat, its extra fat/calories to help them through the cold period. Thats why people put them out in the winter for wild birds.

I didn't see an all flock feed when I went on Monday to purchase more feed. And I discovered our grower feed is only 18% when I looked on Monday.

This is what I got. I don't buy it all the time cause of the price but it's good for molting time. I think the delivery guy probably hates me cause it's 50lbs - LOL.
