Molting feathers

I clean up feathers if I find a clump mostly because they're great for compost. Otherwise no need at all to pick them up, they'll break down and fully disappear on their own by the time spring rolls around.
This is pretty much what I do. When I change the bedding in the coops during molting season I'll grab the biggest clumps of feathers in the run and chuck everything into a compost heap. Otherwise I don't worry about it either.

This year I have more hens molting than previous years, and there are feathers everywhere! I try to keep them picked up, but I am not getting them all! Is it okay to let the feathers stay in their run? I have heard that feathers in a run can attract lice/mites ..is this true? East Tennessee
Cute they have a mirrow : )
