In the Brooder
Hi -
I have six Metzer layers - all the same age. Two are fat, fluffy and laying, two are still in partial molt and laying weak or flat eggs, and two are looking pretty straggly still, especially the flight feathers - still pink tipped. It's been since August. They are about 18 mos old. I have started adding ground peanuts, dried herbs, and mealworms for extra protein to their layer feed. I also supplement it with brewer's yeast and probios. They also have some free range time and "soups" - fresh greens with water and cider vinegar several times a week. Could it be something other than a long molt?
