So it appears 4 of my 5 hens are molting. There are feathers all over the coop and I see the new feathers coming in, but my questions is how long does molting typically last? It is cold here in upstate NY and without their feathers to keep them warm, I'm worried about them staying warm enough. Also, I haven't had any eggs in about 3-4 weeks so I'm hoping the wuicker they finish their molt the sooner I'll be back in eggs. What is the longest molt your girls have gone through?

my girl is STILL molting and has been for a couple months now. She has to be done soon because she's out of feathers and looks like a pin cushion.

My BA has been molting for months, thankfully her only bald area was her neck which is finally covered, I think the worst is behind her. My Leghorn banty is molting also, but she blew many feathers at once, and is growing them in much more quickly. Molts seem to be a very individualized thing with lots of variation from bird to bird.
