Granted it's a very warm February. We're in Las Vegas and our winter has been yo-yoing. This past week has steadily climbed to about 70 degrees.
Our hens are about a year old. We got them at about 5 months and they did not have a molt in the fall. I noticed some butt feathers missing from one of them; checked for mites or irritation and found neither so I figured boredom (there were a cpl weeks there when they didn't have full run of the yard, especially with the rain we had). Just today I noticed a slightly "shaggy" look about them - nothing major, just not sleek as usual. I don't have pics but can get them.
I just haven't heard of a molt at one yr old and in spring. Want to make sure that's what is going on? Any ideas?
