Molting, losing weight, won't eat treats

Well I'm feeling relieved that she is just molting. I still can't believe that she doesn't want the BOSS. I gave her some cooked chicken (seems so wrong) and she's been eating her regular food. I swear she's weighing half as much as my other one (I just have two).

They're not too happy. We've had some gusty winds here, even lost some fence sections. So they didn't get out for a few days. Then I came home to find dh fixing the fence while the girls were underfoot "supervising".

I'll make them some eggs now. I love to add flaxseed meal to their eggs.

I have an EE molting right now. She looks horrible and is really grumpy. They get through it. And when they do, they start laying really nice eggs again. They are as fresh as a spring chicken

You have a good point, wifezilla!

Funny thing, I made eggs for them that night and put flaxseed meal and (lots of) cayenne in them. You know, some say cayenne will promote egg laying. Well..........the one that is not molting has laid two eggs since then, after months of not laying. Interesting.

And Henrietta is getting new feathers now. She will be like a new spring chicken soon!
