Molting or parasites? Or something else?

Hi there,

I have a 10 month old Barred Rock hen who is losing feathers all over her body. It LOOKS like she's molting... but I want to make sure. I initially thought that chickens didn't molt during their first year, but others have told me they can (which made me feel better). But then someone else suggested that this could be external parasites?

Either way... should I be concerned about her getting too cold? I live in Oakland, CA so the temperature this time of year ranges 40-60 degrees Fahrenheit.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Looks like molting to me. With that sort of temperatures she should be fine.

seem like a normal molt to me, the feathers are growing in nicely too.
