A frazzle is a frizzy whose parents were both frizzies making it a frazzle as it has the two copies of the frizzle genes. It makes feathers more brittle and prone to breaking compared to a frizzle. In short, frizzle=one frizzle parent and frazzle=two frizzle parents.

Interesting! I’ve never heard of that name for them. Hope it’s just brittle then. I keep thinking they are starting to grow back, but then I question it

What’s a frazzle? She’s had normal feathers and body up until about a month and a half ago…

Frazzle results from 2 Frizzle genes. A double dose may make birds with fragile feathers, or other health conditions, or a shorter lifespan.

So how is your frizzle looking?

My poor hen is ready for the ugliest chicken contest. She's a frizzled silkie (or "Sizzle") who's molting hard. On top of that, she's going broody too.
