Hello, So about 7 of my 30 birds have been pretty bare mainly on backs all summer and some still pretty bare now. Taking long time for new feathers. I am just making sure that it is not any type of disease or insect hurting them. See images. I dust them with the product for bugs. White powder. Can't remember brand. I put it in their dusting areas also. Little bugs got pretty bad during summer.

I don't think mites or diseases are involved with this, It looks like you either have an over-breeding problem or perhaps you have a bully in your flock that's pecking out the feathers.
How many roosters are in your flock?

I agree with the above post. Still check for mites/lice though. They are being majorly overmated it seems.

One thing I will note is that hens can die from being overmated. Even if its not a disease or insects. Because their feathers are broken, they can only grow them back during a molt. Poor girls!

Never had a bird die from rooster damage.

One thing I'd suggest is getting some hen saddles, they'll help protect from the overly amorous rooster.

Gang mating can cause death of a hen. Multiple roosters trying to mate the hen all at once.

Well I have a speckled sussex rooster. I got rid of the others so maybe things will get better now. I'll try and find a few of those saddles to protect the ones in the roughest shape. Thank you all for helping me. Paul

Also I have a smaller rooster that doesn't seem to try and do any mating. At least not yet. Can anyone tell me if this is an easter egger rooster or olive egger rooster. Its the one in the front of picture
