Molting

Hello All,

My hens are starting to molt, they are 15 months old. Egg production is seriously slowing down (like it should) and I had no idea why until I took one of my girls out and I grabbed a handful of feathers. I have a bag filled with them. I guess I need to start getting crafty. This should only last two to three months, correct? I have just one question, this is my first time having chickens so its my first molt. Is there anything I can do to help them along?

You may be right about the time frame, but some may take much longer.
Increasing protein, especially animal protein a bit can help them build 92% protein feathers a bit faster. A 2 or 3 percent protein boost is sufficient.
