Hello! My one tiny little hen is having a hard molt, she has pin feathers everywhere where she lost her feathers. How long do you think before she finishes. They grew a lot overnight.

I prefer a hard molt, cause while they look like death, they quickly grow back beautiful new feathers. Slow molts just seem to limp along.

My overachieving Cochin has looked like a wreck for a couple months now. I wish she'd molted all at once instead.

They look so pathetic when they’re molting! Mine are just getting a good start. Egg production has dropped in half, and it looks like someone had a feather-pillow fight in the coop. I have some sad looking tailless hens wandering around right now.

Agreed! My other broody is molting too, I figured by now there's nothing left to molt after all the feathers I saw, but she's still really fluffy.
