Hello first year with chickens wondering if my hen is molting or is this something else? Thank you

Molting. Those are pin feathers. Chickens often molt at the start of the cold season.

That's a molt. It's a mini-molt where the hen loses only a few areas.

The pretty girl is indeed molting. Despite what some think it's not that unusual for first year pullets to molt (most of mine did). However it's never a bad idea to do a health check if you're worried. Still, she'll be just fine
