molting- ?

My buff appears to be molting- she is losing feathers on her back, right above her tail- it almost looks pecked out though, and I"m not sure of the difference in appearance. Does anyone have any early molting pictures?
 
also, she hasn't layed eggs in a few days- does this happen when chickens moult?
