Molting

This is my first year with my chickens going thru a molt. How long does it last and is there anything I can do to get them to come out of it faster. Mine have been molting for 3 months now. I did hear that you could give them dry cat food and vitamins, is that true.

Many folks do add a bit of dry cat food for a protein boost during molting and feather regrowth.
A natural molt is stimulated by decreasing light and cold temperatures. If you live in the North and you supplement heat and light, you will want to wait until the molt is ending to start doing this, or the molt will be prolonged.
