molting

When molting will their droppings be funny at all? I have a hen going through her molt and she has runny poop. Thanks for any input

Bummer, I was hoping for some insight!

A molt is a big stress in the life of a chicken, so I suppose that it could affect digestion and produce runny poo. I've never seen it myself, but I'm a relative rookie.

What are you feeding them?

When my flock molted this past fall, my two Wyandottes and my two Barred Rock did not go through a molt. They kept laying and did not lose any feathers. All of the flock were 15 months old at that time. Now, one of my Barred Rock is definitely molting here in January! Isn't it unusual for a hen to molt in winter? or not? She is now 17 months old. I thought I read that they could go through their first molt anywhere between 15 and 18 months old. Is this correct?

Is there a pro out there that has an answer? Thanks

I think so...I know last winter my girls didn't molt. But this winter they did and had a hard one too! And they're 2 years old

Two of my Black Austrolorps look like they are starting to molt. Can this happen in the spring? They were born last May.

I have never experienced it before so I don't know 100% if they can or can't! Did they molt this past fall?
