Mom and my daughter picked out three chicks at atwoods. What are they?

Chick number two is most likely an americana or EE (Easter Egger) I call them the Chipmunk chicks. I know what #1 is and darn if I can think of it. Number 3 looks like a definite australorp. Did I spell that right.

I thought I would update this for education purposes.

#1 was a mottled Ancona.

#2 was an EE

Not sure on number 3 but she got HUGE, so we assumed Jersey Giant and my friend wanted one, so I gave it to her around 5 weeks.

#2 is exactly what my Florie looked like 12 weeks ago, and she is the prettiest of my girls. She is a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. I had ordered a Gold Laced Wyandotte from mypetchhicken.com but got a call early on the day they were being shipped saying that that week's batch of GLWs didn't have enough pullets to fill the orders, so they offered a few alternatives, one of which was the BLRW. She's evidently rarer, but I'm so glad I got her....she's gorgeous.
Oh, and #3 is a Jersey Giant, just like my Agnes. Also gorgeous and BIG.

Australorps and JGs are both pretty big birds! Some people often confuse the two breeds! JG hens max out around 11lbs, roosters 13lbs and Australorp hens max out at 9lbs and roosters 10lbs.. So the only way to really tell the breeds appart is by their feed, JGs will be yellow and Australorps will be pink. I also believe that when they are chicks, Jersey Giant chicks legs will be thicker then Australorp chicks.

I am not sure but #3 could also be a Black Orpington. Looks alot like my Black Orpington chick did. I know Australorps and Black Orpingtons are related.

babyrnlc,
Did #1 turn out to be a rooster? That looks like a rooster to me. BTW excellent job on updating the thread. It's always nice to see how accurate people are. I'm new at this too and these are my favorite threads.

No she lays cute little white eggs. Anconas have large combs. I think it will eventually flop over like our leghorns

Oh. Thanks.

I did some research and learned Anconas are an Italian breed, from er, Ancona, Italy! Hmmm some Italian egg dishes maybe for you;)?
