Mom and Snopes

When I had freinds or family ask for my email address, I specifically told them I will give it to you but DO NOT send me a bunch of jokes or chain mails as I have my business through it also and I don't have time to scan through all the names. So far most respected my wishes.

I have the very same issue. I gave up. If the email has FW in it, I just ignore it and move on.

I especially hate having to scroll through 3 miles of headers to even get to whatever it was she sent me. My attention span just doesn't stretch that far.

Quite possibly. Does yours ramble on about medical problems and tell you stories about her neighbors without naming them and expects that you know who she means by "her" even though you went off to the Army at 18 several decades ago and never moved back and "her" has only been there ten years or so?

Gotta love mom though, she taught me far more than she ever realizes, and won't admit it no matter how much I tell her. Just wish I could teach her this one thing.

I think I'll get a nice sign made up that says "I will check Snopes before I forward silly emails!" and stick it to her desk next time I'm home.

Mine rambles on about dead people. Oh, and at least once a year she tells me that Freddie Mercury is dead. As in "Did you know that Freddie Mercury died?"

I wish I had a better relationship with my mum. Unfortunately, her concern over her perceived financial security always trumped my physical and emotional well-being.

I do occasionally forward stories or jokes--but I am very selective about who gets what, and I never forward stuff that needs to be checked with snopes (except as a laugh to my brother so we can pick it apart together) without first doing so.

Well, not the same mother. I'm quite sure my mother has no idea who Freddy Mercury was.
