So far so good! they are separated by chicken wire and a screen door, but mostly the babies just get the stink eye. I have had 2 times where 'Bird and Hope have gotten over to their side. I found a few peck marks on poor Victorias head, but no damage done, and no one dead thank goodness. I think I may only have issues with 1 or 2 hens and them. As soon as I get some nicer days they will get their own pen adjoining the rest so they can have some more face to face time. They will all be fine, that I have confidence in. I have had to do this part 4 or 5 times before, and it goes ok.
Yeah, there's always one that doesn't take to the new girls. It was Debra Jo for me last year. I wonder if she'll be like that with this year's girls, too.
I am not sure how they got over their. Personally, I think 'Bird knows how to reach his wing through the screen and unlatch the door. Hope opens the door while 'Bird unlatches it and over they strut.
I am just glad they didnt do any harm to the babies.
