I don't know, I still think it's too early to tell. I get this with every batch of chicks I have. I call it 'rooster paranoia'.

But the good news is, if I'm wrong, you get a new coop!

Liza, - no bumbs. tiny, smooth (and she is older than Victoria)



Victoria has what looks like pimples on her head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I will KILL MEYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (joking of course)

I can't see it very clearly, so I don't know. Still hoping that you've got a Victoria, though! How is Victoria feathering in as compared to Elizabeth? I understand that slow-feathering can be an indicator of a young male in some breeds. Not a guarantee, though, as my Biddy-bird feathered in slowly. She lays eggs now, although she does sometimes crow, too...

Victoria is slower feathering. I thought she might just be younger, but uh oh....

I had one chick from the Poop-a-lot gang who for a short while I thought was a cockerel. Her comb and wattles were obviously larger than her sisters, but not quite as large as the two very obvious cockerels. I watched her closely and there were a few weeks I wondered if she were truly a cockerel, and while I called her a manly pullet for a while, she did stop developing her comb and wattles.


Guess which one is the cockerel. Yes, one of these birds is the cockerel, Little Joe. Look closely at the neck feathers and you'll get a hint. Age approx 12 weeks.



I'll tell you after several of you guess.

Based on the neck feathers, I'm guessing the one on the left was the cockerel? Fishnet, just remember that all birds develop differently. We can't say for sure just yet, so keep calling her Victoria and go with the hopes that she listens to you and stays girly.
