After wanting a broody duck, now most of them want to be mommas, I have about 20 hens. Some of them started their nest with eggs, and stayed for about 2 weeks, then abandoned their nests, so I took their eggs, and incubated them, once they hatched I gave them to a broody hen whos eggs had rotten, she accepted the babies. I did the same with another hen, she also accepted the babies. I thought they would raise their babies apart from each other, but it turned out that they get together during the day (like a daycare) and have their ducklings together until is bed time, when they split their babies to go to bed, even some of the drakes protect the babies from my gander (he is moody since his 2 hens are broody too)
So I was wondering if that is the normal duck behavior when raising babies?
