I think Montie is relieved to be rid of all those babies! she still has a few eggs under her to hatch but she seems so relieved to be able to get off the nest for a little bit & take a bath, lol. She hatched about 16 babies so far & I just removed 2 bad eggs but she is still brooding the last few.
Just before i went out to check on her again i heard a whole bunch of peeping outside..i went out to the front yard to find a tiny little ducklings screaming its head off. i have NO idea where it came from, i triple checked the brooder and there's no holes anywhere and also no way it could have climbed out. only thing i could think of was maybe the cat took it out?? but it wasnt hurt at all or wet. if it somehow did "fall out" im amazed it's okay since the top of the brooder is 5' high!! maybe it just came out of the pen & i missed it earlier? i dunno but at least its okay & mellowed out once i put it under the heat light with the others.
