My broody hen hatched all her chicks but she has lost them all! I want her to start laying again, is there any way to help her?
she is a game hen if that helps?

not sure the exact reason but her and another hen got into a fight and she was the loser. that was almot a week ago and she has lost almost a chick a day since then. the other hen will not be a broody again for a while!

That's a predator for sure if everyday a chick is gone.... as a fight doesn't make any sense in loosing chicks... and one everyday...

I agree with DLV58.... snakes are sneaky and take one each day

Fights between hens can result in loss of chicks. Next go around minimize interaction of broody hen with balance of flock until chicks at least two weeks old. Even then make so hen and brood can get away from others if desired.

Did you find dead chicks?

no all but 2 were found... one had a broken leg the rest just looked depressed and then later were found dead...
this is my monstars daddy if anyone was wonderin... lol
snakes... never seen any in the neighborhood... if I did id eat good that's for sure!
I have seen falcons chasing the sparrows! but I have a few good roos out in the yard... my gamecock guards the chicks brooding area and the d'Uccle watches over my layers!
the yokohamas are in a pen and he sounds the alarm that gets the other 2 to pay attention!

Broken leg screams adult chicken involved. I have gamecocks as well and trust them implicitly with chicks so long as rooster regards them as his own. Hens are mostly likely to attack chicks not their own.

ya know... he hasn't pecked any of the chicks! the go into his pen all the time and he lets them be!
would it be safe to keep him pened with his hen and chicks?
