Momma Hen

I had a hen hatch a clutch of eggs about 3 weeks ago.. I went through the drama of her ditching about 5 eggs bc they were late hatchers and I actually ended up saving one by hatching it in my bra (let me know if anyone has questions about that). But my real question is, lately she has become completely feral. Like so protective she rushes over to me and pecks my feet for no reason. She is my favorite hen and used to come inside every day for treats and cuddles. Is this normal behavior that she will drop once her babies are “grown”?

most chickens go through stages of personality shift, especially early in life .. aggressiveness is aggravating though, if you cant deal with it, it might be time for that one to end up on the dinner table with stuffing hanging out of its rear haha ..

Broody hormones can cause extreme changes in behaviors for sure. I would try not to worry about her behavior as long as she still has chicks. Once her hormones return to normal, she should become her normal lovable self.

Thanks y’all.. Not sure if the statistics on this, but pretty sure she hatched all roosters. I’m screwed no matter what..hooray.
