Aren't runner ducks the greatest? You know, except for the craziness and all the poop ...

My initial flock of four (minus the one who fell victim to a murderous mink) is now at nine and I LOVE to watch them parade around. We all know that runners don't fly -- all except my girl Claire. As a youngster, she could elevate about four feet into the air -- for seconds. Yesterday, during a Very Windy Morning, she managed at more than a year old, to get up and fly past my shoulder -- for seconds! Even her breeder is impressed with "Claireborne's" aviator skills. Fortunately, she still sees a 2-foot fence as an insurmountable barrier that she doesn't challenge.
