I now have 3 happy healthy chicks. There are still 2 eggs left butwhen I candeled them there was a small air sak but the rest was solid dark everywhere, no light showed anything. No movement or anything either. The hens are stillsitting on them but seem less commited. Now that there are 3 chicks I have found both mothers off the nest a few times.

A new dproblem has arisen. The naked neck chicken torn her leg up today. It's like she skinned the whole front of 1 of her legs. It was very bloody and she kept picking at it and made it far worse. The new chicks has a few licks too. YUCK

I don't want chicks with a taste for blood (Ewwwe!) but if I wrap up the leg or put anything on it the chicks will get into it because they are under her a lot of the time. I'm not sure what to do. Also I discovered that the backside of one of her legs looks like it's got a huge long thick excess of grey tough skin. Like or wierd sore or something. Should I do anything about it?

The chicks are cute.

You can use Blu-kote for the open leg wound and see if that helps keep them from pecking it. They go for the red color and the blu-kote will make it a purpley blue. Beware though as it stains everything, you and clothes included.

I'm not sure about the grey skin on the back of her leg.
