I got a showgirl rooster and his two girlfriends a couple months ago. He's in with one cochin and a frizzle whom he came with and two of my silkies. He only seems to mate with the cochin (who I think is the only one laying) although the silkies all squat when I pet them. Is he monogamous? He only brings the cochin snacks although he does round everyone up. Honestly, my silkies are getting tired of him bringing them rocks and will walk away from him.
My boyfriend wanted silkie/standard chicken crosses so we've introduced him to my standard flock. We let them free roam, but the silkies we keep in a run because everything eats them. He seems intimidated by the big girls and like most young men, has decided that being the "tough guy" is the best way about impressing women. This resulted in him getting into a knock down drag out fight with one of my hens in which he did lots of flapping and trying to spur her and she grabbed him by his head feathers, held him down, and bashed his face into the ground. He ran away and came back tough at her again and we had to pull her off him before she really hurt him. He finally ran away and gathered his girls up and hid in his coop making angry noises.
Is he defective?
