Monster egg from molting Sex Link

My Black Sex Link (Hattie) is an egg laying machine also. She rarely ever misses a day and she has produced some very large eggs and so far one enormous one.

Out of my 13-15 chickens that are old enough to lay, I have 10 eggs so far this morning, and more chickens in the nesting boxes ! I've never seen a triple yolker. I've had countless doubles from my girls, though

Phoebe, our large Rhode Island Red, has been laying some monsters lately too. Double Jumbos at least. Our hens are two and have not molted yet. They have been dropping a lot of feathers here lately but not what I'd call a full molt (not that I know anything at all about molts). An interesting thing to note about Phobe is that her eggs have been going from the normal brown, getting lighter and lighter and the last monster egg yesterday was white. I'll run out there shortly to see what today brings. Usually after a monster, she skips a day.

Ah, you mentioned that your Phoebe's eggs are getting lighter. I noticed that Juliette's monster egg (she used to lay doubles all the time but shouldn't be laying at all in heavy molt) was way lighter than normal, too. I wonder if their eggs will darken up again once they molt, assuming your girl molts. There's no doubting Juliette's molt; she looks like a quilled monster, poor girl!
