Montana

Anyone doing anything fun tonight. I thought about driving down to Billings and going out for supper, but just not really in the mood. I guess I'll just stay home and watch movies. Tomorrow will start a new and exciting year, I want to wish everyone the best of everything  in the comming year. My big plans- well I would love to quit my job, don't see that happening unless I win the lottery HAHA. I want to get more cows, need to get better fencing for the cows. I would love to have some beautiful flower gardens in the front of my house, but I would just be feeding the deer. Would love to put up another coop with a big grow out pen and 3 or 4 more breeding pens, but need the lottery for that to.... Guess I'm just going to wish for good health, good weather and great crops, no flooding and no fires
Happy New Year :ya :ya :celebrate
not doing anything but tv renting a movie and eating goodies. Getting my list in for next years food storage and preparations. You sell that milk? Your probably to far for me to come get some, I want cream to! Lucky girl. My plans are to do lots of raised bed gardening, going to hire me a nice looki man to build them and then a nice young man to plant some for me. With my arthritis, it gets harder and harder to do much these days. Wishing you the best year! Stay safe and warm!

Yup, I use essential oils instead of things like bleach, tylenol, Rx drugs, etc. :) Basically everything has a natural, side-effect-free alternative :) I can talk to you more about EOs when I get back from my feed store run :)

I have 4 chicks hatched already for NYDH, more pipped! Hope you're all having a lovely NYE day. I'll be back in a bit!
I really need me some of those essential oils girl! I have no clue where to get them or how. I'm so thrilled about your babies! Are you going to sell any ? Wow new years eve babies! You have to post pictures ! I'm off to cook dinner, thinking chili, but again also thinking cereal lol have a blessed night, to you and to you all . Stay warm and safe. See you next year :)

I work for a company that makes/sells the highest quality oils on the market :) You can PM me anytime for info/health recommendations!

Yes, I think I will sell some babies as starteds in February... Now that the Bator's on, It'll stay on, so if you have a specific breed you want, I can see what I can do to hatch/get some eggs to hatch for ya :)

Here here! Everyone have fun and be SAFE tonight and through the new year!

Good Morning and Happy New Year to all the MT peeps, I pooped out and went to bed before midnight last night so I missed the Ball drop on TV. OH Well, I was in my nice warm bed sound a sleep. Darn I have to go back to work tomorrow

at least its a short work week. Cloudy and snowing a bit again today, hope this means its going to be a nice wet spring.
So RoyalT, how did your hatch go, most should be out by now. We need photos. What auto sexing chicks are you planning on. I loved the BSL I bred last year, but my Black Orp roo died, I think he had a heart attack, he was just huge, and produced some great chicks.
I went ahead and started my bators up and set eggs on Dec 23, I think I've got about 125 stacked in both bators. I know I'll be tossing some, but I must be crazy. I bought BLRW, and Black and Blue Copper Marans, and then 90+ are my eggs. I may have to set another brooder up in my basement if I don't sell most of the chicks that hatch from my eggs, I will be growing out the chicks from the eggs I bought.
Enjoy your day, and catch you all later.

Let's see:
2 from the Mystery Swap,
2 OEs from Georgia,
From YOU:
1 Wheaten Ameraucana (should've been two, but the other one sucked the membrane into its nares :()
1 BCM(?)
1 OE
1 EE

1 FBCM from my own eggs I pulled from my Broody, and I had one OE of mine hatch Christmas day.

There are still 3 eggs in there, but my hopes aren't too high =/

I have a crappy styrofoam incubator, and I'm saving up for a cabinet, so some day I wont have the Temp flux and lose all these eggs last minute :(

9/60 is pretty bad....

This is what I'm looking for, and I'm hoping there pullets when I come get them in April
I. Am sick of waiting until July or August for laying , here in Montana you all know that's a few months, then winter comes and production goes down to nothing. I'm looking for chicks born now, ready to lay by at least May/ early June . EE or bard rock are my preferences. But we can talk. I want birds that lay well. I have a copper maran that laid for a month and then stopped for the winter lol, and she is young! This years hatch . I want a good laying chicken! I do hope you all have some to sell, my broody died yesterday. She was in good health, was eating etc. then boom dead. No sign of poop or egg on her bottom, no blood or anything else. Thinking she was egg bound :( she was my best broody ! Contact me if your willing to grow to pullet size, it's to cold to try to introduce now, and I do not want chickens in my house. I'm going to need them to be at least 4 months old willing to come to you to get them when there ready . Pay what you ask also.

Happy New Year everyone. We're starting a brand new raised bed garden this year. We hope to start slow (this time). Usually we get so carried away that we end up working ourselves to death. I told DH that we are too old for that now and we need to reform. We'll see how that goes. Suggestions anyone for nice retired SMALL garden to give 2 old people some practical food?

I'm also looking into raised beds, doing carrots so I can dehydrate, of course tomatoes , different lettuces, squash if I can grow starts in the house, and green peppers to dehydrate, .zucchini . Things we can cut and eat all summer ( lettuces and herbs) and things we can dehydrate , and things the chickens will love also. Strawberrys , also. Non hybrid only. I produced so many tomatoes last year it was funny, gave so many away and dehydrated some, froze some . I covered them each night all fall and got so many !

I'm so sorry to hear about your broody, Kayla! :( That's so sad! I will brood out some chicks for you :)

That raised bed sounds great Chick n Haus :) We only do raised beds here because we're on CLAY and it would just take too much soil amending to get it useful for anything other than grass growing for the yaks :)

Well, I have 10 chicks. 1 Christmas Day, 9 New Year's Eve. I'll be putting more in the bator this week from my own eggs.

I thought my new blue scovy duck ran off yesterday, but I saw her today! Yay :)

Thanks Royal , I'm looking at 4 total, to replace the dead girl, and the rooster I have growing out. He is 14/16 weeks now a beautiful EE rooster. But I can not have roosters in the city. ;( if you grow them out for me I would be thrilled!
Haa haa haa we had our coop so well insulated, the door was 6 inches deep. So yep it fell off a hinge yesterday. Today we added extra heavy hinges to hold the door on. Also noticed a board coming off the wall, looks like my coop needs some small repairs. The girls look well today, just got done laying down some black oil seeds and they went to town. I stuck a jar of alphalfa pellets in water, in the fridge so tomorrow morning I can make them oatmeal and add it. A nice warming dish.
