Congrats on your new chicks Karla, I have new babies hatching now also. Last night I had an EE and a BSL and now this morning several more EE, and one of the Wheaten Ameraucana. I was a little lazy on this hatch and didn't do my last candleing before lock down, so I'm sure I have a few in there that won't hatch, but I'm expecting at least 20-25 to hatch.
We had lots of rain yesterday, and I ended up with just a dusting of snow over night. I need a good hay crop this year, so let it rain.

Congrats on the chicks Karla and Azriel!

We did have an exciting day here yesterday- Our Cheyenne finally foaled! Our very first little part blood Cleveland Bay. This baby has been a very long time coming!

We've got winter here again today- not very excited about that... I really shouldn't complain because we need the moisture, but a girl can wish for rain instead, right?

Hope everyone is doing well :)

. Thanks Bonnie,, more chicks, your going to be busy lol. I had to go out today and buy a new carrier, ugh there always in use, next week I will be glad to get a big one from you! I will be putting my other chicken and her new babies in that one. ( she will hatch out hers in the next 12/14 days) my mama now is some what a simple minded chicken, I'm not letting her and her chicks out until next weekend when it's warm, she tends to wander off forgetting her brood. She did last year any ways, and when I found the chicks two were out of the nest and screaming and could not get back in. All she did was lay and watch, my other broody would have had all of them out of that nest and on the floor with the 2 that could not get in. My feeling is that other broody is going to be awesome, she sits and sits, never leaving. At least I have never seen her off the nest, she is very serious . We had to buy a crate, the other crates are holding cats we crate at night. The go to bed by 8/9:00 and sleep all through the night, this way we sleep all through the night. There still young so tend to terrorize us while we try to sleep. Anyways we took mama out to poop gave her and the chicks food and the heat lamp is going to keep the edge off the cold.
Good luck on your hatches , hope you get lots of babies :)

rained here, then snowed, not much but some. Now that's the cutes little pony I have seen in a long time. I'm so happy for you! Totally adorable. How did mom do? We're you there when she foaled ?

We got snow Fri night, melted off Sat, and then snow again last night. Mostly melted off now. But cold outside. The girls don't want to come out of their coop and I can't really blame them. Now it's muddy outside and I don't like it! I was going to put out grass seed on our acre today, but I decided to wait until some time this week. I'm being lazy today and not getting much done. I am getting seed started for the garden, so at least I am doing something worthwhile. The little foal is as cute as can be - all legs!!

ReneB, very nice foal, Congrats, looks like it will be a good size sturdy horse. I know the Cleveland Bay is a rare breed, is your mare part Cleveland Bay, or just the sire? That makes me want another foal, but I'll have to settle for calves and chicks.
I have 8 chicks in the brooder and several more still in the bator with more in the process of hatching. Looks like this will be a good hatch.

Azriel, just curious as to what kinds are you hatching? I have silkies, LF B/B/S cochins and bantam Mille Fleur cochins in my bator right now. Some bantams are in the hatcher right now, have one more day to starting to come out - hopefully.

Momma did great :) We were indeed lucky enough to catch the birth, but we'd been watching her pretty close. I did take some pictures, but thought I'd spare you all the gory details ;) LoL!

Just the sire is Cleveland Bay right now. He was sort of a lifelong dream come true for my hubby. We are hoping to add a pure mare to our herd- hopefully this fall. They are a little tough to find though- and sometimes the budget just doesn't stretch as far as it should! LoL!
