We completely insulated our coop, but I also have a window or door on each wall for ventilation during the summer.
We used the rolls of fiberglass insulation and covered it with plywood. Did the walls and ceiling.

Hey I'm new to chickens to ! I had my coop built for Montana winters, the walls have insulation between them, and my roof is a real shingled roof with insulation stuffed in side to. The nest box has stuffing between the lid and even the chicken doors are insulated. The chicken door is heavy, but we put lat he's to hold it open, and it's really insulated to. We want our girls to be warm, also we are adding electricity to the coop for really bad days. In montana we have lots of those lol. I will be adding pictures to my page tonight, you can see our coop then

Wow, sounds excellent! Insulation is really important to have, but the more insulation (and more is better) then the more important proper ventilation becomes; the two must go hand in hand.

I added a vent on the roof, and three solar windows that open (got them cheap as they were never picked up by the person that ordered them. Went to a glass shop and they were custom ordered and never picked up, the guy sold them to me for 40.00 each. My coop will be pretty darn good in the winter, and cool in the summer, and we will also be heating with heat lamp when it gets down in the teens and below.

I'm loving the rain, here in butte we desperately needed it. It has been really dry here, and less snow this year. Also the tree's are turning green, I'm so happy. Living in montana can be bleak many months of the year. Last year was cold, summer was short lived. Guess I'm feeling happy about the warmth coming

Geeze, I'm jealous!

It's nothing as pretty as other foLks, but it will look nice when I paint it, we are raining non stop here so not able to paint it yet. I will post pics soon, or make a page on the coop. Thanks much for your kind words
