Montana

Good Morning all, hard to belive another year is almost over. I know winter has just started, but I'm more than ready for spring. Its snowing here again, but temps arn't too bad, about 25. I might take my dog of a walk after lunch, its been a few days and she is driving me crazy. She loves doing what I call chaseing tracks, she will find deer or coyote tracks and run all over the fields following the tracks, great way to tire her out so she sleeps the rest of the day.
Montanachicks, don't get Production Red, they are nasty and really don't lay that well, I got some from TSC that are going on 2 now, and they have never layed well and they pick on everyone, I should make them into stew, but just too many other things to do. If you would want some nice EE's or Olive eggers, I might even have some pure Ameraucana and Marans in the bunch. I'll have chicks the end of Jan. and they should be laying by June. I'd be willing to meet you part way, I'm always ready for a road trip as long as the weather is good.
Hi, Azriel... where are you located? if you want to message me, we can talk price, etc. on your chicks. I have read good reviews about the Ameraucanas & Marans. Do you have pics of any of yours? I know someone who had EE's & he always had green/blue eggs......never heard of an Olive egger? heading out now to clean the coop some & put down a new layer of straw/hay, wood shavings. Will wait to hear from you.

We've had flurries on and off. Just enough to have me out scraping the concrete daily. Ah well, it's an excuse to go outside and get some fresh air, something I'm not inclined to do unless I have work to do out there this time of year.

I've spent the last two days dipping bayberry candles for new years' eve, for friends. I won't lie, I also did a few extra just for me, as well as some pure beeswax ones. They're the only scents candles need, in my opinion.

Hope everyone is staying warm, and getting by okay. Wishing you all a very prosperous (in all ways) 2013!

Hi everyone!! It's been just lightly misting snow on us for over 12 hours... really light flakes :) It's kinda pretty out! Last night, everything was glittery when I went to check everyone with my head lamp.

Anyone have sheep? I'm wondering if I should be cutting back on the 1x/week grain I'm giving my sheep to get them their minerals if they are bred... I know with my goats too much grain made for gigantic babies! Any experience with that?

I got my spread sheet together for the incubating w/ essential oil blend mist 3x/day project :) If anyone would like to participate, please PM me. At minimum, I would need one incubation round w/out the spray, and one with in the same incubator (or broody hen?)

Anyone have exciting plans for the new year?? I know mine involce auto-sexing chickens and yak calves!

Nevermind. Just trying to make some friends and genuinely take an interest in what others are doing. Won't bother y'all again with my stupidity.

Hi Bitterroot, do you sell candles? I used to do candle making, but don't have the time now, but I love the all natural homemade ones.

bayberry candles, yum sounds like they smell nice. Sounds like your keeping busy. It's cold here but we are doing fine, I'm now ordering my catalogs for planting this spring, going start my seedlings in the house this year and try my luck on many different things.
Also daydreaming about my broody and putting eggs under her soon. It's to early I know but I'm anxious to get some laying early this year instead of August lol. Hope you had a good Christmas, and happy new year hon :)

essential oils? You will have to tell me more, not sure whatvyou are to but sounds interesting! No sheep hon I live in town lol, but I would love to have some, man I wish I had land. Anyone know of someone who had a cabin for me to live in ? You country folk are soooo lucky!

Anyone doing anything fun tonight. I thought about driving down to Billings and going out for supper, but just not really in the mood. I guess I'll just stay home and watch movies. Tomorrow will start a new and exciting year, I want to wish everyone the best of everything in the comming year. My big plans- well I would love to quit my job, don't see that happening unless I win the lottery HAHA. I want to get more cows, need to get better fencing for the cows. I would love to have some beautiful flower gardens in the front of my house, but I would just be feeding the deer. Would love to put up another coop with a big grow out pen and 3 or 4 more breeding pens, but need the lottery for that to.... Guess I'm just going to wish for good health, good weather and great crops, no flooding and no fires
Happy New Year

Yup, I use essential oils instead of things like bleach, tylenol, Rx drugs, etc. :) Basically everything has a natural, side-effect-free alternative :) I can talk to you more about EOs when I get back from my feed store run :)

I have 4 chicks hatched already for NYDH, more pipped! Hope you're all having a lovely NYE day. I'll be back in a bit!
