Azriel- I have a 1588 Hovabator Genesis. The eggs that didn't even develop were from poor USPS handling, and the rest that petered out, I don't know what did them in. I only had 2 blood rings, the rest just stopped for one reason or another. Two did look a little deformed, but they weren't from you! Possible inbreeding I would guess?

Haven't been on in a while! The new ducks are all doing well, staying put, too! Which is great because the gate on the second driveway right by their barn is open for winter (delivery trucks have it easier that way). They're all doing great :)

Today I went out and my main roo Linc's comb was shiny and BLACK on the tips! I freaked out until I realized it was grease from walking under the old trucks, not some crazy frostbite! Haha :)

So remember "Cali" and her "boyfriend"??? Yeah. They're both ROOSTERS! Grrr. So I'll be culling "Cal" and keeping the pure Marans boy "Conan"... Unless I can make a breeding pen for my F2 OEs... hrmmmm Think think think. Spring, hurry up!

Everyone's doing well here, hope you are all having a nice 2013 so far!
I'm sorry for your eggs not hatching, that's to bad. What were they? What are you trying for? Ducks? You have ducks? My mom loves duck lol, she is always looking for a good duck to roast lol.
So tell me what is an F2 OE ? I'm so confused

So far 2013 is going OK, I think I have the fence fixed good enough that the calf has been staying in for the last few days. I should stop calling him a calf, he is 9 months old, and almost as big as his Mom. It was a nice weekend, close to 45 both days. The clutch went out on one of the tractors, so we had to split the tractor in half to get to the clutch, got that done yesterday now we need to get the parts and hope to put it back together on Wed or next weekend if we can't get the needed parts by Wed. We had to use the front end loader on the other tractor to hold up and move one half, and had the other half blocked up, now I hope we can get it put back together without any problems.
Chickens are doing great, they all came out of the coop today, and were picking around seeing if they could find any treasures. I have several in all different stages of molting, and 3 broodys right now. Crazy chickens, funny to see naked chickens out in the snow.
I've had a hard time candling my eggs, with the olive eggs having the double coating of blue and brown,so finally ordered one of the high intensidy candlers from Brisnea. I can't wait till it gets here. No more trying to candle with a flashlight. So far most of my eggs look good from what I can tell, so haven't tossed any yet. I might have to pick up a Little Giant for a hatcher.
cool on the brinsea, sorry bout the tractor :(. Hope you can get it going fast.
What do you have in the bator again? I tend to get confused lol.
I finally got an egg from my maran today, he stopped laying 3 months ago. Not sure why, but I did see some feathers off his neck so I assume molting. But we got a beautiful very dark egg today, so far we are getting 4/5 a day. Still enough to eat n and share with my mom and son who eat a lot of eggs each day. Be right back .....

I have a bunch of EE, Olive eggers, and some pure Ameraucana in the bator, they are due to hatch the 13th and haven't really been able to candle because they are too dark, then I bought some BLRW and BCM &BlueCM eggs and have them in the other bator due to hatch a week later. I really hope the high intensity candler gets here before the weekend so I can make some room in the bator for hatching. I have the 1st bunch stacked in the Hovabator, in cartons I can get 60+ in there with out stacking, then I put another layer of 48 on top, and hope some don't make it the whole way so I have room to hatch them. I would be way to dangerous with a big cabinet bator.
Oh, a F2 OE would be a 2nd generation Olive egger.

. Well girl, i hope you get your candler soon! What is BLRW and BCM ? I want 4 pullets that lay well and not wait until Aigust. I'm tired of waiting on eggs from the grow outs. I have one EE that will lay by april I'm thinking. If you do not mind I would like to buy your eggs and put it under my broody if she goes broody this fall. I loved the fact I can raise them through the enter ad get to laying by spring. I do hope my one broody does better this summer. Right off the bat she was more interested in eating then teaching the chicks. One of them died all by its self on day three in the corner of the coop. She had a box to sit with her chicks, the other broody that passed away had a huge crate, she did better and bonded better since the crate was Locked and she was let out to poop and then back in with her chicks for several days.i made sure there was plenty of food and water in the crate and she was content to just sit with the chicks. When I finally took the door off the crate she would take them in and out and teach them what they needed to know. I am hoping she will do much better in the crate next time. I want EE eggs for her to sit on, and pure ameraucana. I will hit you up this fall if she goes broody ( hopefully by September ) thinking of gettig some RIR pullets or Bard rocks this spring as they lay very well and fast. Oh and my black copper Maran laid ! Yep a beautiful dark egg , half a very dark color and half a lighter color. You would have tought someone died it for Easter lol. I. Just now remembering I forgot to check for eggs tonight. Ugh and it's to late now. I'm to tred and it's to cold. Looks like I may have some very cold eggs out there. I. Off. To bed!

HI. I vote for an F2 Olive Egger breeding pen!! I would love to hatch a bunch more of those for enthusiasts here in the Phenix, AZ area...BTW--got 8 pipped on day 20...humidity is 70% and temp steady at 100...sure takes a long time from pip to hatch it seems...the first to pip was yesterday at 2pm...almost 24 and there's been little progress...others have gotten a bit further in half the time...none of the F2 olives or wesummer egg have pipped...they are thicker and they were set about 8 hrs later too. (have your eggs and another breeders from cali)
Hope all is well with you and yours (-:
