We leave Friday the 27 and get back LIKE Tuesday or Wednesday

What day are they due to hatch? If they are due Fri, they would be OK till Monday, some will hatch late, maybe Sat or Sun, so that gives you a few days of them being OK in the incubator. I like to get mine out daily, but you don't have to. If you have your brooder area set up with the heat lamp, food and water, maybe your Grama could check them and take the hatched ones out and move them to the brooder every day. You need the brooder to be about 90 dregrees for the first few days, but have an area that they can move away from the heat if they get too warm. The first few that go into the brooder will need to have their beeks dipped into the water, but after that they will show the other chicks what to do as more go into the brooder.I like to dip all their beeks, but again you don't have to. They don't eat alot the first few days, so if you have a couple of pans of food they should be OK.

I finally got around to candleing all my eggs last night. I pulled 25 of 64, and there are a few more that are questionable, but I'm going to leave them in for now. I'll check them again in a few days. Their due to hatch on the 14th. I'm a little disappointed, I really wanted the Marans, but ended up pulling almost all of them, so I've got EE, OE, a few backyard mixes, some Ameraucana, and just a couple of Marans left.

Any of the eggs from me going? I'm getting 1-2 Marans/day now of the ones laying in the coop (I've got some rogue hens laying in interesting places.. keep finding surprise nests >.<) so you just let me know when you're ready, and I'll send you a bunch of replacements!

Completed Coop!

Just finished painting the coop yesterday, and adjusting some latches and edges due to the thickness of the paint today so that all of the doors still work! The color was a little more garish than I was looking for (a basic barn red), but it does stand out. May add some white trim down the line. The ballast on the roof is temporary - just holding the asphalt shingles down till they bond with the summer heat. Here it is in all of its carnival-red glory!

RoyalT , the 2 little mixed eggs are really rocking and rolling, they are the most active of all the embryos, I also have several of your EE/OE's still going, the Marans that survived shipping was pulled, it had a blood ring, so was fertile but quit.
I had alot of clear from the breeder in CA., that was the box that was stabbed 15 times, so the clears could have been from shipping and not that they were not fertile.
We are getting lots of nice rain this weekend, Yea, it rained almost all night, quit for a while so we could get some field work done today, and now its raining again. We need a lot more so I hope it rains all night again.

Those little mixed ones will be 3/4 Marans. The moms are 1/2 banty cochin and 1/2 Marans Their mom laid white eggs, they lay that brown color, and the offspring should have larger sized and darker eggs at least. Sorry about your CA eggs =(

that coop has the perfect look, everything I wanted in a coop. Great floor space and I wish mine looked like yours. I have a bigger coop, but it's done differently inside . You really thought yours out and it's pleasing to the eye and will be awesome for your birds. I'm rethinking of rectifying my coop now this summer! Again great job !
