I gave my chicks some egg yolk today I boiled up. When the chicks got it they went nuts, then one of them crowed , I kid you not one of them buggers crowed lol. I'm still laughing. 3 are growing out tails, three are not yet. If this is any indication, 3 are girls and three are boys. There feathering out on the wings now, hard to believe how fast they grow!

I went to Idaho Falls Chickenstock last year. It was OK, I sold every chicken I brought with me as well as a few crates within the 1st half hour. It sounds like it will be bigger and set up better this year. Last year we were in one of the barns, it was cold and dark, I had a bad cold, so wasn't feeling well, you also had to walk across the fair grounds to use a bathroom. It would have been nice if they would have had a place to warm up, and they didn't even have a coffee pot set up. If I go to one this year, I'll go to the show in Hamilton.
Can anyone tell me if that highway 38 from just N of Anaconda to Hamiliton would be open then? It looks like it called Skalkaha Pass and closed in the winter.
Well, my hatch is done, I hatched 25 chicks out of 64 set, All 4 of the eggs from my girls hatched, so I got 21 chicks out of 60 shipped eggs. So that would only be 25% on the shipped eggs. Not great, but I can live with it. I love anything blue, so I'm kind of excited about the Blue Sex Links. Hope they are as good of layers as the BSL and GSL.
I'm anxious to see pictures of the Blue Sex link.... !!

I'll be going to Hamilton, I think. It's only an hour and 15 minutes or so from my place so that's real nice :) 21/60 is 35% right? That's not terrible! I'll have to see how well this hatch goes. If that road is closed in winter, it will be open in May, pretty sure :) I could ask my hubby to ask the other drivers he works with... I'll get back to you!

Well, the ewe I pegged as "latest bred" has an udder developing now! Nothing on the other two. Looks like I'll have lamb(s) soon! Will post pics when I do. Here's one of my little chicks getting some outside time (in the crate so I didn't lose my mind). The silkies could get in/out as they pleased, but they stayed real close. This was before I had a chance to get their feeder and waterer out. These guys are definitely looking interesting! The pair of Polish crack me up :)

Yes, 21 out of 60 would be more like 35%. As I was driving home from work and stuck behind a wide load that no one could pass, I started thinking about the hatch, and knew I had posted the wrong %.
I'll try to get photos of the blue chicks, they are way to cute.
I'm starting to think the yearling heifer I bought last month is bred. I hope not, she would be way to young. She was on the thin side when I got her, but had a big belly, so I asked the guy if she could be bred and was told no, he didn't think so. I wormed her as soon as I got her home, thinking the big belly was because she was wormy. She has been putting on weight nicely, but that belly just keeps getting bigger. She isn't bagging up, so she wouldn't be due real soon, I'll just have to keep an eye on her.

I love the little one out side the cage lol, how adorable! Congrats on the lamb !

That's a little blue Silkie baby :) They really are cute!

Still no lamb. Cricket is relaxing and chewing cud with the rest of the flock. Maybe she'll just have a huge udder...

Well Bonnie and Cheri tomorrow is the day ! My daughter and her boyfriend will be doing this trip for me, they volunteered and I'm thrilled. Bonnie is a 1:00 meeting still ok ? Moms so excited, and excited they will be laying in the next month or two. My daughter will be doing some shopping before she meets you, she owes me new head phones.
