Montana

Welcome also, like to see more Montana people. I am fairly new to this forum as well and agree that I have really learned a lot. Just got the cuckoo marans because I had never had a dark chocolate egg. Who knew about all the varieties of marans? Thanks for the mini education. Will post when I get eggs and will have to do more research before I branch out. It is so much fun being retired and finally having time to enjoy chicken research.

Today my maran laid a giant egg, it had 3 yolks! Unfortunately my son dropped it . Question, inside the shell is also brown, not dark brown, but brown . I always though the inside shell was white. The eggs are getting darker and darker. There gorgeous .

Welcome, I hear greatfalls has a ban on chickens..... of course lots of towns have a ban on chickens, does not mean people do not have chickens lol. good for you ! what do you have?
Lucky me, I live about 3 blocks outside the city limits so no problem for me. I have 5 leghorns, 6 BO (waiting for them to start laying), 2 white rocks, 7 "variety" -- (orphaned from a neighbor who split town) -- those are my hens. I also have two roosters-- one is not quite 5 months old and I am looking for a good home for him..... don't want to deal with having rooster fights .

Welcome :) What kinds of chickens do you have?
6 BO's--not laying yet-- 2 white rocks, 5 leghorns, and 7 "variety" hens that I inherited from a neighbor. Plus two roosters-- again, "garden variety" -- looking for a good home for the yhoung rooster, he is almost 5 months old. thanks for the welcome. !!

Anyone want a few astrolorps? Very pretty birds, a little over 1 year old. They lay every day! I'm down sizing so I can add eggs to my girls that are broody again, this way I will have laying chickens again by spring. Very. Ice looking girls, you can see them as I have much pictures posted on this place lol.

I have 3 but one is my girl with the crooked feet. She will live out her days here. She is so sweet. The two I'm giving away are Wnonderful egg layers. I also have my pullets that are now laying ( rhode island reds, ) a copper maran that just started to lay... Who by the way laid a 3 yolked yesterday lol. And of course my two buff orphingtons who are broody again  oh and the sweetest light brahama 17 weeks old.

Are they in a run setting? I'm always concerned about taking birds used to confinement and letting them lose here. We have a semi-busy road along the front of the property.
