Oh Azriel, I'm so sorry! People like that just irk me! We got our first 4 girls from a large, 80+ cow herd (not counting babies) and it's taken almost 2 years to get them to come around. All at different levels. Not worth it, in my opinion! That does make more sense on the price, though! Tame, yearling+ pet yaks go for 1500-3000, depending on their desensitization and training levels. If you do just want a pet yak, I'd recommend a steer. If I get a bull calf in the spring, I'll let you know

They can work and be used for fiber, and since they're not intact, no hormonal swings. Even my 'tame' bottle baby girl gets into moods depending on her cycles.
My girls are all doing well, and we're taking out the extra roo's one by one. I'm very happy to report that our beloved banty white cochin "Dovey" who was killed by crows this summer lives on through her daughter who looks like a FBCM but smaller and with Dovey's "clown pants." We call her daughter "Blovey" (for black dovey) and she is now laying us small, dark brown eggs (not chocolate, but half between a Marans and a normal brown). She roosts right in her mom's old spot, too. It's uncanny. A great reason to hatch your own eggs, at least from your favorites
We stayed below 32 today, and there was no snow today. All the snow is patchy but sticking here. Kind of hoping for some solid snow cover. Not 6 feet of it, though! So maybe I should just simmer down, eh?
