I hatched some turkey eggs last month, and they were all (aside from my "special needs" turkey baby) healthy and happy and just perfect for the last month. Last night they played and ran around for a while then went to bed. This morning they were the same, happy and running around! Just now after lunch, I go down to check on them and one was dead! Stretched out beside the wall next to the feeder. He was still limp, so he hadn't been dead for very long. What could have happened? I'm worried for the other ones!

Unfortunately sometimes apparently normal birds just die. If he was healthy in appearance right up to his death, and he does not appear to have been injured, it is likely something very sudden like a heart attack.

Monitor the rest of your birds for any signs of illness for a week or two. Hopefully that will be the only one involved.

Had another one die tonight :( and the special needs turkey isn't doing too good either now. Do you think he's sick and he gave it to the others? He's basically been quarantined ever since he hatched because he came out last and has leg problems, I've kept him separate since I don't want the others trampling him. We put him in with them a few days ago to see how he could handle it. We had one area in the brooder (a stock tank, lol)b sectioned off for the Guinea keets who are now out in the coop, and now the turkeys had free reign of that side too. Could the guineas have left germs behind or something?? I've heard of people who raised them together and never had a problem. I am completely clueless and heartbroken.

P.S. We cleaned out the entire stock tank, added new bedding, cleaned and scrubbed the feeder and waterer. Just in case, lol. And separated the special needs turkey again.
