friend of mine bought (really cheap) a foundation appy colt as a yearling, solid, no pattern with a ugly red black brown coat. really nice colt conformation and brain wise. just was not the "pretty" app that people wanted. colt fuzzed out huge and fluffy over the winter. that spring Im helping her shed him out and all that funkey baby fuzz fell out and low and behold hes got to be close to 10 now pitch black with a huge white blanket. the white blanket was first and over the years the spots just seemed to fill in. apps should be born looking like an app and not shed out or fill in later. its not genetically normal for them to do what this little guy did, but hey now my friends got a lovely and now well trained horse that she picked up for next to nothing.
