In the past few months I have had a hen with a broken leg who had it set by a vet, but quit eating. And I have had a 3 week old Silkie who quit eating for reasons unknown. I would have thought to let them go. Because of a member's guidance, they were both saved by tube feeding, recommended that I start with hydration, then food by tube, with the proper fluid and calories per day. Eventually both started acting normal and eating normally.

I would like to show my appreciation to Kathy (Casportpony) for helping me save their lives. I would have never tube fed them without her encouragement and guidance, and chance for saving them.

I am not saying that Kathy is perfect. But her heart is in the right place and her knowledge has helped me save 2 loved ones. Thank you.

Casportpony's tube feeding threads are quite popular, and have helped many people to treat their sick chickens. "Go Team Tube Feeding" is the thread that contains most of that information, for those that need it.

I'm blushing. Thank you for posting such a nice post and so happy that you were able to save your birds.

On my list of things to do is to write an article that includes all of the info in that thread and the threads in it. So much to do, so little time, lol.

@casportpony is an invaluable member of this community! What a lovely acknowledgment of her help to you.
Thanks, what a nice thing to say.

For those that don't know this, I will teach anyone how to tube either here, PM or over the phone.
