Please remind me what diseases mosquitoes can carry that can be passed to chickens. Fowl pox? There’s a swarm of mosquitoes hovering above lawn/pasture and the sun won’t come out to chase them away.

Yes, fowl pox is the most immediate! There are a few others. From Merck Veterinary Manual: Mosquitoes transmit Plasmodium gallinaceum (chicken malaria), P hermani (in turkeys), and other Plasmodium species causing avian malaria. They also transmit many viruses, including Eastern and Western equine encephalomyelitis, St. Louis encephalitis, fowlpox, and West Nile viruses.
