Most aggressive rooster breed (good to hens)

IMO, the only reason to get a roo is if you want offspring. If you are using your roo for protection, you are going to either quickly run out of roos or realize your roos are cowards. The human should provide proper protection in the form of proper barriers instead.

It must depend on where you are, and/or what your predators are, and of course, what kind of roosters you have. Not all roosters are good roosters, few are fantastic roosters. But if you have a good one, one that is very aware of his surroundings, he will greatly help in daytime predation losses.

However, that being said, foxes are very clever, and opportunist. If you free range, there is a real possibility that you will loose one, (and it always is the favorite!) When that happens I go into 24/7 lockdown for several days, so the predator gives up on the free lunch.

Once you get hit by a predator, they will be back.

Roosters are equiped to fight other roosters. They are no more equiped to fight large predators than you and I are equiped to fight lions.
What they may do as you mention is give their hens a chance to get to cover but they usually die doing it.
Yes, this is what I meant. But I probably didn’t execute it well…
They will protect their flock. No way, are they a match for the predators, as they are prey animals, but the original poster was saying that they do not protect anything, which I highly disagree with. I think they are solely made to protect the hens.
