This is Doodle - short for Cocka Doodle Roo. He is 18 months old. He's a bantam barnyard mix frizzle who has the unique genetic anomaly of being spurless naturally.

Since he can't get up to the roost now that he's an adult and put on his full weight, he often sits in the nest box nearest the roost, which is where I found him cozied up over this egg this past week.



Ever since I separated my flock in two, Doodle has been king roo. He went from lowest in the roo pecking order to being the only roo (I left him in with the ladies all summer when I wasn't breeding because he's spurless and doesn't rip their feathers to shreds - though I'm not breeding frizzles anymore, so he does temporarily loose part of his harem during breeding season when the hens that will be bred are separated with their fella).



This was him about a year ago. He still had his baby face on a bit back then.
