Most Humane Way To Euthanize

One of my 11 year old daughters hens needs to be culled, she knows it needs to be done but wants to have it done in the most humane way.

Snap the neck, ax, ideas please

The ax is probably the fastest and most sure, if you guys have not processed birds before. For my meat birds, I prefer cradling them in my left arm like a football, breaking the neck with my right hand in a down, out, then swift up motion, then cutting the throat.
