Most Intelligent Breed of Chicken

I have heard that games are the smartest, and in my experience, they are. I had a OEGB hen named Daphne that was broody and was sitting on some plastic eggs in her nest. Her nest was not in the barn, so I had to take her off her nest during the night. During the night, a raccoon came and ravaged the nest and broke all the plastic eggs. In the morning, I let all the chickens out and Daphne of course ran away to her nest. I sat on a bench to watch the chickens, and after a while a distressed Daphne ran up to me and jumped on the bench beside me. She started tugging at my clothes like she wanted something. I've had this behavior before from her, so I knew something was wrong. So I got up and followed her as she led me to her nest. The poor girl wanted me to fix the destroyed nest, so I gave her new eggs, fixed it up, and she sat on it as happy as can be.

^^^^ Smart guy right here! We both speak from experience they are the labs of the chicken world(the good labs, not the ones like marley and me)

I've seen lots of posts here that I agree with. First and foremost, it's the individual hen more than the breed, in my opinion.

I have a red sex link who is a chicken genius. She is clearly the smartest bird in my flock. Another red sex link just doesn't stand out as particularly intelligent. She's not stupid by any means, just not as bright as her "sister".

As a breed in general, I found my Blue Andalusians to be very smart. Very inquisitive, very amusing, very good at finding a way out of any pen I could devise. Just all around quick witted girls.

Out of 117 chickens, I would have to say that our little OEGB mix hen is the smartest because she cooks us breakfast. LOL

Haha, my cochins aren't the brightest bulbs in the box-they probably take after me!
Though what they lack in brainpower they make up for by being excellent pets with their lovely personalities. I have a cock who is just the most docile bird I have ever owned, I can do anything with him-he's like a puppy!

I have 4 silkies and 1 showgirl. I think they are pretty smart as they have learned their names, to go "Inside" and "Outside" when I tell them, the word "treat" though my little Roo I must say is the smartest of them all as he has learned how to get me to do just about anything he wants. They get their evening treats at 5:30 every day. After he eats if I leave the room he will throw a tantrum (bawking and pacing) until I return. If I do not sit down he will stand on my feet and gently peck at my chins. When I sit down he crawls onto my leg and pecks at my chest until I lay down. He then crawls onto my chest and lays his neck over my shoulder for his neck rub which last about 20-30 mins. or I will hear about it. I have learned to forego the foreplay and just lay down so that he can climb on and get what he wants. And I thought I had them trained.........

Silkies !!!! They know all they have to do is look cute and someone will do everything for them.. LOL. My indoor Silkie, Sophie will look around the house if she can't find me. If my door is closed she will knock on it with her beak, then scratch on it with her feet and if that doesn't work she starts throwing herself at the door, then stop and peek under the door and do it again. If I pick up my keys she knows I'm leaving and she want's to come too - TSC is her favorite place. She will hold her poo while she is on my lap. If she hears the microwave go off, she knows she might get something..... she's just funny
