Most practical chicken breed

Which breed would be most practical depends entirely on what one's goals are. For example are you keeping them strictly for egg production or do you wish to also have them to use as a source of meat for you/your family? The former would point you to legyons but the latter would point you directly away from them. So you can see how the end goal or purpose of keeping the birds will affect what breed is the best fit

Yes that is true.

Fancy Polish are fine as Eye candy ornamental, But do not lay very well. I have 2 currently, and get about 6 eggs from both combined in a week. When they don't lay, they eat less.
The sexlink chickens are good for egg production, but do not live long lives. They produce plenty, and then move to the Rainbow bridge at around 4 or 5 years. Some sooner. :(
I like dual purpose heritage breeds. I do not eat my chickens BTW, but like the long life they live and produce eggs even when old. Of course the older ones produce less than the young ones.
White Leghorns of course are the Worlds, most common chicken for eggs. Understandably so. :thumbsup The one that I had produced very well. There is nothing wrong with white eggs. My Polish lay white eggs. I of course do not sell any eggs, but do give them away when have more than We can consume. Nobody seem to complain about the color.
WISHING YOU BEST , chickendude12,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and :welcome
